2026 Internship – AI-Assisted Creative Designer (Generative AI & Digital Media)

We're seeking a creative graduate who wants to master generative AI tools and become an expert in AI-assisted image and video creation. This isn't traditional design -you'll spend the majority of your time learning and working with the latest AI models to produce professional creative assets at scale.

• AI-first creative workflow: 60-70% of your time will be learning and creating with generative AI tools (Midjourney, DALL-E, Runway, Pika, Firefly, Stable Diffusion, and emerging models)

• Prompt engineering mastery: Develop advanced skills in crafting prompts for images, videos, and motion graphics
• Hybrid creative skillset: Combine traditional design principles with AI-powered creation

• Rapid iteration: Learn to produce and test hundreds of creative variations using AI

This is a 12-month internship for recent graduates in design who want to position themselves at the intersection of creativity and AI technology - the future of the creative industry.


What you'll learn:

• Generative AI mastery across image and video tools
• Advanced prompt engineering and AI creative workflows
• How to combine AI tools with traditional design software
• Data-driven creative optimization and testing
• Digital advertising formats and platform requirements
• How to work 10x faster using AI-assisted production

Role and responsibilities:

AI creative production (60-70%):

• Master generative AI tools for image creation (Midjourney, DALL-E, Firefly, Stable Diffusion)
• Learn and create with AI video generation platforms (Runway, Pika, and emerging tools)
• Develop advanced prompt engineering skills for consistent, professional outputs
• Create AI-generated static ads, social media content, and video assets at scale
• Experiment with new AI creative tools and techniques as they emerge
• Build workflows that combine multiple AI tools for complex creative outputs
• Learn to fine-tune and customize AI models for specific brand aesthetics

Traditional design and optimization (30-40%):

• Use Adobe Creative Suite and Figma to refine and adapt AI-generated assets
• Design landing pages and campaign assets using both AI and traditional methods
• Apply data-driven insights to improve creative performance
• Conduct creative A/B testing with rapid AI-generated variations
• Collaborate with campaign teams to understand creative requirements
• Stay current with digital ad formats and platform-specific requirements

Requirements:

• Degree in graphic design, digital media, or visual communication (essential)
• Strong visual sense, composition skills, and understanding of design principles
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) or Figma
• Passionate about AI technology and eager to learn new tools constantly
• Creative problem-solver who embraces experimentation
• Highly organized with excellent time management
• Team player with a growth mindset and positive attitude
• Cape Town-based

Beneficial (but not required):

• Experience with any generative AI tools (Midjourney, ChatGPT, etc.)
• Motion graphics or video editing skills
• Interest in prompt engineering or AI workflows
• Basic understanding of HTML/CSS

The internship

• Duration: 12 months, starting January 2026 (date TBC)
• Location: Cape Town – Hybrid work model
• Training: Comprehensive training in generative AI tools, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted creative workflows
