Sanef expresses concern over latest publication closure
The South African National Editors' Forum (Sanef) has expressed concern over the closure of an increasing amount of local publications. Sanef said that it finds the loss of jobs in the media industry and its subsequent impact on the morale of journalists and the profession as a whole particularly worrying.
Print newspaper Afro Voice, which was formerly known as the New Age, will close shop at the end of July 2018 and The Times has stopped its printed edition since November 2017. Most recently, Media24 indicated that it would end its licence to publish the localised version of HuffPost after it failed to attract sufficient advertising revenue.
