Travelstart wins Africa’s Leading Online Travel Agency award

South African travel company Travelstart has been named Africa’s Leading Online Travel Agency 2026 at the World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

The award comes as Travelstart marks 20 years of operations in South Africa, having launched locally in 2006. The company provides online booking services for flights, accommodation, car hire and holiday experiences.

Wouter Nel, head of sales: offline B2C at Travelstart, said the recognition reflected the importance of customer trust as the online travel market develops.

“Winning this award is a proud moment for our team, but what matters most is the trust behind it. Travellers want a platform that is easy to use, great value and real support when they need it.”

Travelstart CEO Andy Hedley said the company had evolved alongside changes in the travel industry over the past two decades, while continuing to focus on making travel easier.

The company says it will continue investing in technology and digital platforms as online travel and booking behaviour evolve.
