SuperSport apologies for Currie Cup broadcast interruption
SuperSport has apologised once again to viewers for the interruption in the broadcast of the Currie Cup final in Durban this past weekend, which was caused by a massive thunderstorm and driving hail in Randburg, Johannesburg, that “extended for a full 30km” and knocked out both the satellite down-link site in Randburg and the backup one in Rivonia - the first time this has ever happened. Eight other feeds were also lost. “While this interruption was beyond our control, we understand and share the frustration experienced by our viewers. We therefore humbly apologise for the interruption which occurred and assure viewers that we are exploring all possible technical avenues to ensure that this will not happen again,” said SuperSport CEO Imtiaz Patel in a press statement yesterday, Tuesday, 28 October 2008.
