FXI calls for lifting of apartheid-era publications ban
After this week's lifting of the ban of Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses, the Freedom of Expression Institute (FXI) has called on the Film and Publications Board to lift all bans on apartheid-era books, films and music. The FXI considers this a necessary step to finally remove "the apartheid form of thought control". Salim Vally, FXI chair, says censorship is an insult to the intelligence of the people of this country.
