Banff Mountain Film World Tour 2011 on SA screens in October
The Banff Centre in Canada began an outreach programme in 1986 to introduce thrill-seeking films to communities across the world, and thus the Banff Mountain Film World Tour was born. Every year it receives hundreds of entries from extreme sports filmmakers, which are narrowed down until only the best remain.
Line-up
This year's line-up includes The Longest Way, Tuzgle, Life Cycles, Eastern Rides, Cross Country Snowboarding, Into Darkness, Second Nature, Dream Result and The Swiss Machine.
The public can view the films at the Cavendish Square, Tygervalley Centre, Sandton City and Brooklyn Mall Ster-Kinekor cinemas, screening once daily from 28 October-3 November, usually
at 8pm. The screening includes all nine short films, with an estimated duration of two hours.
"The group is thrilled to be bringing the Banff film festival to South Africa for the sixth consecutive year. This year's line-up includes a selection of world-class short films that will entertain the adventure junkie and armchair traveller alike," says Evan Torrance, marketing manager of Cape Union Mart.
