Management moves at Media24

According to Media24, there have been four changes in the senior management structure of its newspaper business, effective immediately.

Peet Kruger, current editor-in-chief of the Afrikaans daily newspapers, will assume the new role of editor-in-chief of FinMedia24, reporting to Abraham van Zyl, CEO of Media24 Newspapers. Kruger has played an invaluable role in restructuring the editorial functions in the newspaper division over the past 18 months.

Fergus Sampson has been promoted to the position of CEO: Emerging Markets and City Press. He will serve on the executive committee of Media24 and report directly to Francois Groepe, CEO of Media24. Sampson has been within Media24 for ten years, during which time he played a significant role in the launch of Daily Sun, South Africa's largest daily newspaper. Until recently, he assumed the role of Acting CEO of Media24 Newspapers while Abraham van Zyl was away on sabbatical leave. Sampson also serves on the board of Multichoice.

Tim du Plessis, editor of Beeld, will assume the additional responsibility of editor-in-chief of the Afrikaans daily newspapers and Rapport. He has been with Media24 for the past 19 years, during which time he was editor of Rapport for eight years and held various editorial positions at Beeld and City Press.

Minette Ferreira, former managing editor of Daily Sun, has been promoted to the position of GM: Daily Sun and Sunday Sun. She has been with Media24 since 2003, during which time she has held various positions at Daily Sun, Nova and Sake24.
