Spar CEO Wayne Hook resigns

Retailer Spar Group (SPP) announced on Tuesday, 12 November 2013, that CEO Wayne Hook would step down on 31 January 2014 as his wife has been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

Graham O'Connor‚ a former MD of Spar's KwaZulu-Natal division‚ has been named to succeed Hook‚ who has held a position for seven years.

O'Connor is a chartered accountant and is currently a partner in five Spar stores.

"Spar has been Wayne's priority for the past 29 years and he now believes that his wife and family have to be his main priority‚" the company said.
