Nashua treats local children's charity to a day of fun in the sun

It was smiles all around as the children from Thuthukani Centre, Ivory Park, were recently treated to a day out at Sun City, courtesy of Sun City and the Nashua Children's Charity Foundation.

For all the children this was the first time they had experienced such an outing, including the opportunity to splash about in the waves of the Lost City.

The 32 children were warmly greeted by members of the Foundation who treated them to a hearty breakfast, snacks and goodie bags on route to Sun City. Jet Stores sponsored the bathing costumes which the children hurriedly fitted, slipped on life jackets and raced to the waves.

Helping impoverished children

The Nashua Children's Charity Foundation is dedicated to providing crucial support and assistance for impoverished children in South Africa, with food, educational opportunities, and renovations offered on a regular basis to the homes of its 52 supported charities. This includes 360,000 meals that are provided to about 4,000 children per month. The organisation regularly arranges outings for the supported charities to various fun destinations during the course of the year.

Not only did Thuthukani Centre's children enjoy the 'sea', they also thoroughly appreciated their delectable lunch from Steers, as well as some mouth-watering ice-cream before they made their way home.

Nashua Children's Charity Foundation Director, Helen Fraser, elaborated on the success of the trip saying that it proved to be an outright hit and once again contributed to the organisation's goals.

A successful outing

"The intention of the Nashua Children's Charity Foundation in organising this outing was to ensure that the underprivileged children from Thuthukani Centre could experience a day of carefree fun that they would not be able to enjoy under normal circumstances. The sheer delight expressed on the children's faces during the day, coupled with their warm words of appreciation, indicated to us that we have made a substantial impact through this small act of giving.

"There is no doubt that the outing not only provided these youngsters with a special day that they will remember forever, but has also given them hope for the future that life has countless possibilities."
