M-Net celebrates birthday with top new shows

October sees M-Net in the business of television entertainment for 18 years. To celebrate, they are launching two world-class shows, for which Oracle Airtime Sales is offering headline sponsorships.

In keeping with the current global appeal of makeover reality shows, M-Net launches 'Queer Eye for a Straight Guy' to replace the ever-popular sitcom 'Friends', which bowed out this week. Although 'Friends' was a tough act to follow, 'Queer Eye for a Straight Guy' will not disappoint viewers. It is about an unabashedly gay quintet, who make it their mission to transform a stylistically-challenged, straight guy into a master of class and style. On his journey, he will be guided through the categories of fashion, food and wine, interior designing, grooming and culture. 'Queer Eye for a Straight Guy' begins Wednesday 13 October at 7:30pm.

Another coup for M-Net which premières in October, is the Parkinson Show. M-Net has acquired the rights to broadcast the veteran talk show host's programme from 24 October after the Sunday movie. Michael Parkinson has reportedly attracted about 4.2 million viewers to his BBC chat show where he has interviewed celebrities like Bette Midler and Bjorn Borg. After being with the BBC for 33 years, he was recently poached by ITV.

The Yorkshire talk show doyen has won numerous awards and is considered amongst the best in his field.
