Red&Yellow School of Logic + Magic wins digital student brand challenge
Working with SHAWCO Health, a team comprising marketing students from the Red&Yellow School of Logic + Magic, known as #changealife, has won the Prezence Digital Student Brand Challenge. The team has been awarded R10 000 after producing a digital marketing campaign for SHAWCO Health.
As part of the Challenge, Prezence Digital will be rolling out digital elements of the winning team's campaign for SHAWCO Health. "The concept was original and very creative and Prezence Digital is looking forward to meeting with SHAWCO Health to discuss the real life implementation of this campaign," said Prakash Patel, CEO of Prezence Digital.
The Student Brand Challenge was initially envisaged as a once-off event in celebration of Prezence Digital's tenth birthday. However, the student presentations were of such a high calibre that Prezence Digital has decided to make it an annual showcase of the next generation of South Africa's marketing and innovative creative talent.
Solving business challenges
The winning campaign was chosen after a day of presentations on 31 August. Each team was assigned a charity and was given ten days in which to meet with the organisations, conceptualise a solution based on solving the charities' business challenges - such as raising awareness or fundraising - and then present the solution to a judging panel.
At the awards ceremony, #changealife was praised for their winning campaign that revolved around raising awareness of SHAWCO Health's need for a corporate sponsor in an inexpensive, feasible, and innovative way using digital at the heart of the solution, but also including experiential and offline elements. In addition to that, from the winning team, one student recognised for his or her outstanding work in the Challenge will be picked as the winner of a six month paid internship at Prezence Digital.
In future, the challenge will partner with non-profit social initiatives, and potentially other agencies, sponsors brands and the vanguard of the next decade's marketing talent, tasking them with the creation of a digitally-themed campaign for deserving charities under the mentorship of marketing experts to help bridge the gap between academic learning to real-life experience.
