SWAT team confiscates movie weapons

A Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team raided a warehouse in Budapest that contained props for a new horror movie and discovered 85 weapons, including AK-47 assault rifles and sniper rifles, which all contained live ammunition.

A police spokesman in Budapest told the gossip channel X17 that the collection of rifles represented a "disaster waiting to happen" and warned that an accident could easily have occurred as the weapons were loaded and ready for use.

Meanwhile the Associated Press reports that the weapons were intended to be used in Brad Pitt's new movie, "World War Z" but as they had not been properly deactivated, they were confiscated.

It quotes Hungary's head of Counter-Terrorism, Janos Hajdu as saying that the weapons had arrived from London and were discovered at a nearby duty-free zone. He said the importation of these weapons was not allowed under Hungarian law particularly as they had not been fully deactivated and could be used to fire live ammunition.

Meanwhile Bela Gajdos, a weapons supervisor for the movie says that the production company has the necessary permits and a detailed list of all weapons destined to be used on the movie sets. The weapons are owned by a company in London.
