Boost for SA's emerging farmers
South Africa's emerging farmers are to get a R1 billion boost from the Land Bank through government-backed loans to help them develop their farms according to an article published by The New Age.
It says Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan made the announcement at the presentation of the Land Bank's financial results for the year to March.
Gordhan says the government has set up the Development Finance Institutions Council to ensure there is an alignment between the different institutions, their funding programmes and the government's development agenda.
Meanwhile, Business Report says that the Land Bank's goal is to support the emerging farmers through funding and skills development rather than just providing land to them.
