    MDDA-Sanlam Local Media Awards entries for 2014 now open

    Entries for the MDDA-Sanlam Local Media Awards for the year 2014 are now open. Entry forms are available online at www.mdda.org.za and www.sanlam.co.za. The deadline for submission of entries is 30 January 2015.

    Entry forms will also be available from websites of the awards partners - Print and Digital Media South Africa (www.pdmsa.org.za); Association of Independent Publishers (www.aip.org.za); Forum of Community Journalists (www.fcj.org.za); National Association of Broadcasters (www.nab.org.za); National Community Radio Forum (www.ncrf.org.za); and the Association of Christian Media (www.acb.org.za).

    The entry forms will also be available on the social media platforms of the partners.

    The awards are presented annually across the community media platforms - print, radio and television. The awards for 2014 will be presented in May 2015.

    There are now 39 categories in total and these are:

    • Corporate-owned free sheets
    • Small independent commercial newspapers: Emerging (existing more than two years but not yet five years
    • Small independent commercial newspapers: Established (existing for five years or longer)
    • Community media/grassroots
    • Indigenous language newspaper

    • Corporate-owned paid newspapers
    • Corporate-owned free sheets
    • Small independent commercial newspapers (not owned by any of the major media groups): Emerging
    • Small independent commercial newspapers (not owned by any of the major media groups): Established
    • Community media/grassroots

    • Human interest
    • Personal finance/business consumer education
