New face of Sasko

Having been around for 70 years, Sasko Grain has re-energised the Sasko Flour brand making it stand out through a striking design using black and white photography, and red. To increase brand exposure, it has launched its first “Share the Goodness” TV advert, which builds on previous television exposure on shows like Muvhango and Mara and Friends.
New face of Sasko

In the advert, a young man is welcomed into a home where his girlfriend's mother and friends have baked some incredible cakes, scones, muffins and more. While waiting for his girlfriend, the man is offered some of the delectables, which creates a difficult choice for him when his girlfriend appears, ready to go out. Does he stay and eat or does he go out with his girlfriend?

The actors were selected through a competition held at all the Sasko flourmills inviting staff to be part of the process, and the TV spot has a natural, warm atmosphere.

Lisanne Bower, Sasko Flour product manager, says, “Retail shops have more than 25 000 SKU's vying for the customers attention - it's easy to become part of the clutter. We have ensured that our design is striking, yet clean enough to arrest the consumer's attention in the flour aisle.

Like the TV advert, the black and white photography on the packaging is intended to make a striking impact, with the design focusing on the baking process, the beautiful flour, broken egg and sieve. It's also designed to own the colour red with a beautiful new logo intended to convey the warmth of the brand.

"We wanted to convey the brand's taste delivery and show that baking is fun, relaxing and enjoyable. We also wanted to acknowledge the effort and love that homemakers put into providing for their families and most of all that Sasko Flour is all about sharing the goodness," Bower concludes.
