Russians Erect First Advertising Billboard in Space

The photographic company Kodak has placed an advertisement on the outside of the orbiting platform of the International Space Station. The large red and yellow advert was positioned by two Russian cosmonauts and bears the Kodak logo and the slogan: "Take Pictures. Further."

Both the flag and the advertisement are made from a material that the Russian space agency wants to test for durability.

According to David Wade, senior lecturer in space technology at Kingston University, UK, the Russian space agency has in the past given adspace on the side of one of their rockets to Pizza Hut, filmed advertisements on the Mir space station, and has made plans for huge orbital billboards kilometres across that could possibly be seen from Earth.
