Kaspersky Internet Security 2010's silver lining

Though cloud computing has broadened our horizons, it has also exposed us to a range of new Internet security threats.

If you shop, bank, socialise (via Twitter or Facebook, for example) or play games online, you're sharing information with others. And though online service providers try to offer secure products, new threats are introduced almost by the second, and hackers are getting smarter as fast as the technology advances. So you need to update your defence regularly.

The new Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 protects your PC and guards against most online threats. It even has the ability to repair damage a virus may already have done to your computer. It secures your log-in details and warns you of any phishing attacks, which comes in handy when you are shopping or banking online. When you are using Facebook, Twitter or Myspace, the software guards your account from receiving malicious links from online contacts.

Kaspersky says the software uses "realtime, cloud-based information" to detect and block online threats before they get to your PC. More than 7m Web attacks are registered every day, according to Kaspersky, and there are no doubt still more undiscovered Web threats in the cloud.
