Nando’s teams up with Siya Kolisi for new limited-edition sauce

Nando’s has joined forces with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi on a limited-edition sauce, bringing together one of South Africa’s best-known sporting figures and a brand with a long history of celebrating local flavour and creativity.

The Siya Sauce was unveiled on Saturday, 31 October, at the opening of Nando’s new bespoke restaurant in Stellenbosch. Developed alongside Kolisi and inspired by his favourite flavours, it combines garlic, bright citrus notes and a gentle smoky finish.

A sauce made for sharing

The collaboration taps into the idea of bringing people together around food, whether at a family braai, a Sunday lunch or a table at Nando’s. For the brand, the aim was to create a flavour that could be enjoyed by South Africans with different tastes, rather than one that simply turns up the heat.

“Developing this sauce was so much fun. Nando’s has that South African spirit, and we got to explore local flavour while connecting with the people behind the process,” said Kolisi. “A few samples later, we landed on something I could eat every day, on pretty much everything. That was the one for me.”

The launch campaign brings that shared-table idea to life, featuring some of Kolisi’s real-life friends: Siv Ngesi, Sobantu Nqayi, Ray Malo, Vafa Naraghi, Nina Hastie, Jam Jam and Anton Taylor.

The advert leans into the banter, laughter and occasional chaos that come with getting a group of friends around a good meal.

Local creativity on the bottle

The campaign is not the only creative element of the launch. Pretoria-based illustrator Mpho Boshoga designed the bottle artwork, bringing his expressive, street-culture-inspired style to the packaging.

“Being part of this project is a life-changing opportunity to bring my artistic creativity into a space that's all about culture, community and a whole lot of flavour,” said Boshoga. “Nando’s has always had a unique way of bringing art and personality to the table, and this time they saw me.”

His involvement builds on Nando’s long-standing support for South African artists, with the brand regularly using its restaurants as platforms to showcase local creative talent.

Free for the festive season

Jessica Wheeler, chief brand and customer officer at Nando’s, said the sauce was intended as something fun for customers to discover over the festive season.

“The festive season has a way of bringing us all to the same table, so we wanted to give South Africans something fun to discover when they got there. Siya is someone the whole country can agree on, and the sauce is much the same. It's easy-going, packed with personality and made to be poured generously,” she said.

The Siya Sauce will be available for a limited time at Nando’s restaurants nationwide from 3 November, free of charge and while stocks last.
