The seventh new language edition of Heart Magazine International's Good Housekeeping will be in Afrikaans here in South Africa - and it will be Associated Magazines' first-ever Afrikaans magazine. Both English and Afrikaans versions will be launched under licence in the second half of 2011.

Associated Magazines announced yesterday, Monday, 19 January 2009, that it has appointed Andreline van Tonder as associate publisher for all titles in the group. Van Tonder will rejoin the company in February 2009, after spending over two years at Media24.

The 2008 MPASA PICA Awards were held for the second time in Cape Town at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Friday night, 21 November 2008, attended by the glitterati of South Africa's magazine publishing history. For the first time ever, a Lifetime Achiever's Award was given out - posthumously to the late Harold Rupert Eedes, longtime industry stalwart and MD of Ramsay, Son & Parker (now RamsayMedia) who passed away from cancer earlier this year. The Magazine Publishers Association of South Africa (MPASA) has strongly condemned the Media24 circulation irregularities uncovered last month and emphasised the need to be open, transparent, clear and truthful with regard to the reporting of circulation figures. In addition it expressed concern that Media24's internal audit processes were not enough to stop the fraud happening in the first place.

Media24 Magazines CEO Patricia Scholtemeyer was reconfirmed as MPASA chair at a board meeting of the Magazine Publishers Association of South Africa (MPASA) in Johannesburg yesterday. Julia Raphaely stays on as deputy chair and will assume the role of spokesperson on the Media24/ABC circulation issue for MPASA. The association will issue a full statement today, Thursday, 11 October 2007, on the whole circulation debacle.

Julia Raphaely is the new managing director of Associated Magazines, with immediate effect. Formerly business director, she will be responsible for the day-to-day business management of Associated Magazines. Jane Raphaely will stay on as chairperson and Vanessa Raphaely will continue as editorial director.
