New Zealand-born Larkin, who most recently was editor of Caxton Magazine's Food & Home Entertaining, appointed in September 2008, brings with her over 19 years' experience in the media industry.

“We are really excited to have Naomi on board at this time, as House and Leisure has just begun a fresh repositioning,” says Julia Raphaely, MD of Associated Magazines. House and Leisure magazine recently updated its look, with a bigger format, an additional February issue and a new pay-off line, ‘Stylish SA at Home and Play'.

“Naomi's experience in the style, décor and lifestyle industries will prove invaluable as House and Leisure embarks on a journey to position itself as the authority on ‘Stylish SA at Home and Play'.”

After editing Singapore Tatler and Singapore Tatler Best Restaurants guide, Larkin started her career in the local magazine industry five years ago as editor of Style. Since then, she has been editor-at-large for Business Day's Wanted magazine and editor of Food & Home Entertaining.

    Dream come true

Bizcommunity.com's Tshepiso Seopa caught up with the passionate Larkin this morning, Friday 16 January, who says editing the title is a dream come true:

Biz: Why did you leave Food & Home Entertaining after such a short time?

Larkin: I will have been at Food & Home Entertaining for five months when I leave. But the great opportunity to edit House and Leisure recently arose. I have loved my time at Food & Home Entertaining - it's a terrific magazine. I am proud to have been able to contribute to its continued position as SA's leading food magazine.

Biz: Who is taking over at Food & Home Entertaining?

Larkin: The position is being advertised.

Biz: Are you planning on making changes at House and Leisure?

Larkin: It's an exciting time for House and Leisure - it has recently undergone a respositioning, including an updated look, bigger format and a new tagline, "Stylish SA at home and play". It will be my job to carry through these changes, reinforcing its position as the authority on SA decor, design and style.
