Magazine titles increase circulation

Associated Magazines titles stood their ground in a tough magazine market in the January-June 2005 ABC, with most titles increasing circulation from the previous ABC period. Cosmopolitan achieved its highest circulation figure for the first semester of the ABC period in 15 years, reaching 118 296.

Julia Raphaely, business director of Associated Magazines, says: "We are encouraged by the positive state of the magazine market in South Africa. All our titles have shown growth over this period despite increased choices and three new launches."

Marie Claire confirmed its position as the leading women's international fashion and beauty magazine and increased its circulation to 47 252; Home décor and lifestyle title House and Leisure gained almost eight percent to sell 42 109 copies; Femina magazine, the title for the 30-something woman settled at 44 167; and Lifestyle title O, The Oprah Magazine also increased its circulation to 64 103.
