Local editor, Lani Holthausen, wins international accolade

The editor of award-winning South African business-to-business publication Water, Sewage & Effluent, Lani Holtzhausen, has been awarded an all-expenses paid trip to Kyoto, Japan, to attend the Third World Water Forum from March 13-26, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the debate around water, water supplies, management and sanitation.

The Forum, held every three years in a different country, was created to address the earth’s growing water crisis, which is leading to immense problems in agriculture, industry, the environment and urban living. Over 8,000 participants are expected to come together to establish solutions to global water issues.

The Water Media Network (an association within the World Bank) and the Third World Water Forum sponsor the competition for journalists around the world to compete. The fifty international winners will attend the Forum in Kyoto and will travel to Shiga and Osaka to participate in field visits, exhibitions and to meet with government officials, water specialists and development specialists from around the world.

Holtzhausen has extensive experience working in specialised press.

WASE Africa (a Brooke Pattrick Publications title) dedicates its pages to the water industry across the continent. The publication also covers new products, new projects, successes in the industry and news from the rest of Africa. Published in close association with the Water Institute of Southern Africa, the journal carries authoritative editorial and reports on policy, legislation, management, conservation and preservation.
