New SABC board chairs

President Thabo Mbeki has appointed Eddie Funde, a former SA Telecommunications Regulatory Authority councillor, as the new chairperson of the SABC board. Lawyer Christine Qunta will be the new vice-chairperson. They replace outgoing chair and vice-chair Vincent Maphai and Barbara Masekela. The other members of the board are journalist Thami Mazwai, Noluthando Gosa, human rights lawyer Ashwyn Trikamjee, sitting member Derrick Swartz, Fadielah Lagardien, Cecil Msomi, Khanyi Mkhonza (chairperson of the Media Development and Diversity Agency), Allison Gillwald, Andile Mbeki and Andrew Maralack.
