Pick n Pay helps educate South African youth

Currently in its eighth year, the Pick n Pay School Club programme supports 2,250 schools around South Africa by providing curriculum-aligned and grade-specific educational material. The School Club programme recently introduced the 'Grow Your Life' campaign, an initiative aimed at motivating and cultivating the practice of a healthier lifestyle and encouraging a sustainable way of living. Through assisting with the creation of vegetable gardens at schools, the campaign empowers the youth to plant, tend and enjoy the fruits of their labour, but also provides the tools for them to understand the importance of healthy living and protecting the environment. The Pick n Pay School Club was highlighted at their annual Western Cape Showcase that took place on Wednesday 27 July 2011 at Groote Schuur Primary School in Rondebosch, Cape Town. The event was hosted by Roxy Burger, a Survivor SA contestant who highlighted the elements that define the Pick n Pay School Club 2011. Invited guests and media had the opportunity to see the Pick n Pay School Club in action for themselves. In a real life classroom environment, guests and media experienced how the educational material provided to schools enables learners to get that much closer to reaching their dreams.
