According to a research report released by Mike Jensen, an independent Internet and telecom consultant, all 54 African countries and territories have Internet access, indicating phenomenal growth in the past four years. There are 1.3 million African dial-up Internet subscribers, with 280 000 in North Africa, 750 000 in South Africa, and 300 000 in the rest of Africa. The total number of Internet users is estimated at around 4 million (3 to 5 users per connection), with 1.5 million resident outside of South Africa.
