So what's up with Naspers, Johncom and Caxton?
First, there was ITWeb reporting that the market was speculating that Naspers may be after total ownership of M-Net. Then Business Day also queried where the offer to buy the 38% stake in M-Net and Supersport came from - Naspers or an external party - and what this means in terms of Johncom's long-awaited empowerment deal. Now Business Report writes that the Naspers offer "appeared to stem from Naspers' fear that control of Johncom would fall into unfriendly hands", and that this unbundling could lead to the unbundling of Johncom's 36% stake in Caxton, making it easier for a Caxton-led consortium to gain control of Johncom. Yet Prof Anton Harber, in his blog The Harbinger, doesn't believe a merger between Johncom and Caxton is on the cards - just a closer knit in working together.
