Beeld makes TV debut
Beeld's new offering, the Afternoon Edition, which launched earlier this month, has made its debut on South Africa's local soapie Egoli. Shaleen Surtie-Richards (Nenna) was filmed on the Egoli set reading Beeld's Afternoon Edition, exposing the Afrikaans papers' new fledgling to prime time soapie viewers. Market research has revealed as many as 50 000 Afrikaans readers and non-readers of Beeld, habitually purchase an afternoon paper to catch up on the latest news.
