Sanef's hate speech, harassment case against Malema dismissed at Equality Court
The South African National Editors' Forum (Sanef) has indicated that it would be studying the judgment of Equality Court Judge Daisy Molefe after she dismissed its case against Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader, Julius Malema. Sanef submitted the case after it felt that statements made by Malema and his supporters against journalists constitute hate speech and harassment.
In a statement, the editors' forum added that it would continue to engage the EFF and all other political parties on mutually-acceptable rules of engagement. Sanef is also working on a memorandum of understanding between the media and political parties to encourage more cordial interactions and rules of engagement.
