Adriaan van Heerden's new photographic collection pays tribute to TS Eliot's The Waste Land

Adriaan van Heerden has released his newest photographic collection, which commemorates the centenary of TS Eliot's The Waste Land. Van Heerden's interpretation of The Waste Land in bleak but beautiful photographs shows how wealth inequality, homelessness, the waste of young lives due to crime, spiritual vacuity, political and moral failure in our contemporary society are prefigured in Eliot's great poem.

“A heap of broken images”
“April is the cruellest month”
“Falling towers”
“I have walked among the lowest of the dead”
“In the mountains, there you feel free”
“London Bridge is falling down”
“Looking into the heart of light, the silence”
“There is not even solitude in the mountains”
“Unreal City”
