Sinakho Women and Youth Development Programme sews threads of positivity
Fifteen women from the Langa township in Cape Town were announced as graduates of the 2016 Sinakho Women and Youth Development Programme, which was funded by Nedbank. During the three-month skills programme, House of Monatic's staff provided the women with training and mentoring in all aspects of garment manufacturing including sales and distribution.
The Industrial Development Corporation was also announced as skills transfer programme donation partner and has donated R500,000 towards a sewing kit, which includes a sewing machine and other garment production tools, for each graduate to help them establish their own small businesses.
Nedbank will be by selling some of the garments the graduates continue to produce through its corporate sales channel, Nedthreads.
