Two engines at Primedia Broadcasting – Co-CEO leadership to power next era of media transformation

The dual leadership model is crafted to address two equally vital priorities; protecting and growing Primedia Broadcasting’s market-leading radio and content business, whilst simultaneously driving digital innovation, audience engagement, and incremental revenue streams. This progressive structure reflects the company’s commitment to balancing trusted content and commercial strength with forward-looking digital growth, a balance critical to long-term sustainable success.

Jonathan Procter, Group CEO of Primedia emphasises the strategic rationale, “Primedia Broadcasting is evolving its leadership model to position the business decisively for the future. The combination of Kelvin’s commercial acumen and Mzo’s content expertise formalises our complementary focus on preserving our core broadcast dominance and accelerating innovation in digital. Their combined strengths embody the skills necessary to lead our industry confidently through a fast-growing market.”

Mzo Jojwana brings nearly two decades of experience in South African radio and media, having held key programming and leadership roles including station manager of 702 and chief content officer at Primedia Broadcasting. His stewardship spans leading the group’s flagship brands such as 702, 947, CapeTalk, Kfm 94.5 and Eyewitness News, with responsibility for content strategy, audience growth, and operational excellence.

A graduate of Gordon Institute of Business Science and recognised industry figure, Mzo highlights the value of trusted content and audience relationships, stating, “As Primedia Broadcasting enters its next phase of growth, my focus is on continuing to strengthen the foundations of our business through exceptional content, trusted brands, deep audience relationships, and market-leading radio stations.

Radio remains one of South Africa’s most powerful and resilient media platforms. Our task is not only to continue serving millions with trusted brands and exceptional content, but also to evolve how we create value in an increasingly connected media environment. This leadership structure enables dedicated focus on protecting and growing our core business, while accelerating digital opportunities that will shape our future. Together, we are building a stronger, more diversified Primedia Broadcasting, positioned to lead the future of audio, video, and audience engagement in South Africa.”

Kelvin Storie, with over two decades in media and marketing leadership, joins as co-CEO after a meteoric rise from Primedia’s chief intelligence officer through to Chief Commercial Officer. Known for his insight-driven approach to commercial growth and innovation, Kelvin spearheads Primedia Broadcasting’s expanding integrated offering across audio, video, digital, and experiential platforms.

He views the co-CEO model as vital to unlocking deeper commercial potential. “Our market is evolving rapidly. The future belongs to organisations that can make content effortlessly accessible, simplify solutions for clients, and unite diverse teams towards common purpose.

My commitment as co-ceo is to drive commercial growth by leveraging insights and innovation to expand Primedia Broadcasting’s reach and impact. This dual leadership enables us to harness our full strength, combining compelling content with cutting-edge digital innovation to create unmatched value for audiences, partners and clients alike.”

This appointment signals a clear message to the industry and stakeholders that long-term success in broadcasting hinges on the symbiotic relationships between trusted content, engaged audiences, commercial partnerships, and digital innovation. The leadership team will continue to deploy Primedia Broadcasting’s strategy to lead in a digital media landscape defined by both enduring standards and rapid technological evolution.

Primedia Broadcasting invites clients, partners, and the industry at large to join in supporting Kelvin and Mzo as they guide the company confidently into its next chapter of excellence and growth.
