Geoff Whyte not chicken to take on Nando's Southern Africa

Geoff Whyte has been appointed as CEO of Nando's Southern Africa Business Unit, effective 1 March 2013. He joins the company with a wealth of local and international experience from companies including Unilever, PepsiCo, SAB-Miller and Cadbury Schweppes.

Commenting on the appointment David Niven, global CEO of Nando's, said, "We are delighted to welcome him into the Nando's family at what is an exciting time for the business. We believe his broad experience will add considerable value to the group."

Whyte has worked in Europe, the UK, Africa, the Middle East and the US. He is recognised as a leading thinker in South African business and has spoken at a number of high profile conferences on a variety of topics. He has also written articles for major publications including leading national newspapers. His many contributions to South African marketing were recognised in April 2009 when the Sunday Times made him its Marketing Person of the year.

He has also been a judge of South Africa's major marketing and media awards and gave the prestigious keynote address at the 2010 Apex event recognising marketing effectiveness, where his company at the time (Cadbury-Schweppes) picked up a record 3 awards of the 22 presented on the night.

Whyte is a non-executive director of Tennis South Africa and the South African Rugby Legends Association.

Whyte added, "I have admired the brand and corporate culture from outside the organisation for many years. I'm therefore delighted to be joining a company I hold in such high regard - and am looking forward to the challenges ahead."
