Baby Soft Mini 2-Ply - claimed to be a first of its kind
So what is this re-regulation about? South Africa was one of only three countries in which the toilet paper category was regulated. This meant that 1 Ply toilet paper had to be 500 sheets and 350 sheets for 2 ply. This obviously restricted innovation within the category. To overcome these constraints members of the Tissue Manufacturers Association approached the regulating body to de-regulate sheet count or re-regulate to allow for more variants. This was approved in March 2012.
Kimberly-Clark, the manufacturers of Baby Soft, innovates globally, and with this re-regulation is finally in the position to do the same in the South African market. There are numerous benefits to the re-regulation - you will have access to improved products leading to improved hygiene as well as comfort, you will have access to more cost-effective products and there will be a larger variety from which to choose.
The first innovation to hit our shores is the new Baby Soft Min 2-Ply. This product is a smaller sheet count roll of 200 and is available in white and blue 9's and pink and white 4's. The packs are easily recognisable with a green design intended to ensure consumers don't confuse the original 350 sheets blue pack with this new addition. The new Baby Soft Mini 2-Ply will cost R32.99 for a pack of 9's and R14.99 for a pack of 4's.
