Vida e caffè celebrates its 10th birthday with cool designs
Celebrating its 10th year in business, vida e caffè partnered with design company 'Between 10 and 5' to allow its artistic consumers to come up with a creative coffee cup sleeve for its takeaway cups. The online portal provided a platform for artists to showcase between five and 10 of their best artworks.
Comments Grant Dutton, "We were so impressed by the number of designs we received (in excess of 90 to be precise) that we couldn't pick one winner. We chose our top three and will be getting all three designs produced for the month of September, with the top 20 entries to be printed and mounted in the vida e caffe head office boardroom, where they will be sure to get the admiration they deserve.
The grand prize winner is Francois Conradie and runners up are, Jay Gordon and Clinton Campbell, who will all have their designs printed for the month of September.
10 successful years
Since its 2001 inception in Cape Town, the chain has gone global, most recently expanding into the UK and Angola, as 50 stores offer a unique brand of hospitality and service, based on the typical fare of a street café in Lisboa.
Wallpaper magazine has called it "The best looking caffe shop in the world" and the store design has won multiple awards; but really it's the 500 full-time staff members who make the quintessential experience.
Originally developed in reaction to the insipid mass coffee culture that used to be so prevalent in our daily lives, 10 years on, the bars serve on average 700 customers per day.
