SABC 'clueless'
NEWSWATCH: Lungani Zama, writing in IOL reckons that the national broadcaster has its priorities 'all mixed up' and that those running the organisation are 'clueless'.
For more:
- IOL: SABC's priorities all mixed up... Lungani Zama lays into Safa for what many view as its less than stellar record, and he also has a word or two for our national broadcaster - and reckons that the people running the SABC are, in his words, "a clueless brigade".
Sports fans will also be wondering... How come the SABC feeds us Bafana Bafana (as of 19 December 87th in the latest Fifa world rankings) games and as Zama puts it, "a buffet of dull, poorly-attended football matches", but seems to be unwilling/incapable of giving proper coverage to the Proteas (the world's top Test side, the second ranked ODI team and the 5th ranked T20 team) and players of the calibre of Amla, Kallis, Steyn, De Villiers, Philander - to name but five?
Here's hoping that the same paucity of coverage will not be extended to rugby and the Springboks - currently ranked second in the IRB world rankings.
No one is saying for one second that football and the national team should not be covered, but for heaven's sake, our national teams that are at the top of their game and the players who put them there deserve better from the SABC.
