Talk Radio 702 means business

Talk Radio 702 is to introduce a fully-fledged business hour starting September 1. The 'World at Six' will focus primarily on business and financial matters and will be presented by 702's business editor, Bruce Whitfield.

702's Station manager, Yusuf Abramjee, said the hour will also include up to the minute news, sport and traffic.

Whitfield joined 702 a year ago and he has since grown the business coverage on the station. "A fully fledged business hour is the next logical step. The show will also be broadcast to our sister-station 567 CapeTalk giving it a national audience," said Abramjee.

The World at Six will include coverage of trade on the world markets, the day's business stories including comment and analysis and interviews with leading business figures.

"I'm excited by the challenge and I'm looking forward to bringing a fresh approach to business coverage in Jo'burg and Cape Town," said Whitfield, an award winning journalist.

Primedia Broadcasting CEO, Terry Volkwyn, added; "This move is in line with our strategy to grow the news and information services on 702 and 567."
