CapeTalk's sixth birthday present: To build homes for five homeless families!

Cape Town news and information station 567mw CapeTalk is celebrating its sixth birthday this year by changing the lives of five families in KTC township forever.

CapeTalk has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity and is building five houses in five days from Monday October 20, 2003. The new homes will be handed over to five families in KTC, a squalid township near the Cape Town International airport, on Friday October 24.

Five sponsors - GrandWest, BOE, Outsurance and Nedbank - have been brought on board and will provide 15 volunteers every day over the five-day period to join CapeTalk presenters and staff in constructing the sorely needed homes.

CapeTalk, which is co-ordinating the project, decided this year that in light of the serious housing shortage in South Africa, it would be appropriate to try to help in some small way, and celebrate its birthday by helping the destitute.

Habitat for Humanity is a network of NGOs dedicated to eliminating sub-standard housing in the country.
