“I'm very excited about the position and really looking forward to this new opportunity, to new listeners and to making friends with the listeners,” said Moloi. “I love Joburg. I am from here originally and just love the energy about this city. I have travelled a lot but really believe that Joburg is where I am meant to be. I'm looking forward to using this platform to connect with the diverse mix of people who live in this city that I love so much.”

Says Buli G: "My decision to temporarily leave radio will enable me to refocus my attention and energy on to an extremely exciting part of my life that I have always dreamed of fulfilling."

Her album, which can best be described as a mix of pop and R'nB will be out in early November 2008. Visit www.bulig.co.za for more info.

New start for Pabi

The position heralds a new start for the ambitious 24-year-old Pabi Moloi, who brings a wealth of broadcasting knowledge with her, including extensive experience in both radio and TV. Moloi believes her radio experience stands her in good stead to take up the reigns alongside big broadcast names such as Jeremy Mansfield and Alex Jay.

“I can't believe I'm being afforded the opportunity to be a part of the mainstream line-up, working with radio legends - and I'm the only woman with a slot in that line-up, which is very encouraging. I like the fact that the presenters at 94.7 feel like they're part of something bigger, there's a connection between the people, and a connection to the station and what it stands for as well as with the listeners. I'm also really excited to be working with a station that has such a big heart, as I'd like to be involved with charity work as much as possible,” Moloi added.

The fresh-faced youngster is no stranger to the microphone, having started out in television at the age of four on a major youth literacy campaign for the organization READ. She remained in front of the camera until she was 18-years-old, when she stumbled into radio by winning 94.7's Hot Jocks talent search.

“Radio really took me by surprise,” explained Moloi. “I was worried about the transition from TV to radio and from being a child performer in front of the camera to being a responsible adult behind the mic. But in the end it was a natural and smooth transition. I think I've really matured a lot since then as well. I was super ambitious and wanted to do everything as soon as possible - and I did. But I think now I've got more perspective on the whole industry and realise I don't have to say ‘yes' to everything. I'm more focused now on what I really want to do.”

Taking a break

Moloi attributes her new vision to a two-year hiatus from the social scene, in which she allowed herself the time to reconnect with friends and family. “I think I was almost swept away by the whole stardom thing and I just needed time out to decide exactly where I wanted to be a part of this industry. I am starting over now, at 94.7, with a clean slate and actually feel brand new - even fresh - coming back into this business. I can't wait to tackle the challenge and put into practice all the life lessons I've learnt over the past few years,” she added.

Ravi Naidoo, 94.7 Highveld Stereo station manager, said he was delighted Moloi was joining the station. “She may be young, but Pabi has a certain maturity about her, a worldly air that actually makes her seem a lot older than she is. I think this combination of maturity and experience and inherent youth will add something special to our daytime line-up. She's very talented and we look forward to nurturing, mentoring and guiding the development of this exceptional talent on Pabi's new path with 94.7,” said Naidoo.
