Dan Moyane quits Primedia Broadcasting

After 14 years with Primedia Broadcasting, Dan Moyane is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Moyane has been chairman of the Primedia division, which includes 94.7 Highveld Stereo, Talk Radio 702, 567 CapeTalk and 94.5 Kfm, since July 2002.

“Dan has always had a view that his stay as chairman should be directly linked to strict deliverables and once those deliverables have been met, a role review should take place. After much reflection, and consultation with various stakeholders, Dan has decided to pursue opportunities outside of Primedia Broadcasting,” said Kuben Pillay, chief executive officer: Primedia group advertising division, yesterday, Tuesday, 19 February 2008.

Moyane started his career with the group at Talk Radio 702 in 1992 as a journalist. He left the organisation briefly in 1997, returning in 1999 to take up the position of Talk Radio 702 station manager.

In 2001 he was appointed deputy chair and assumed the chairmanship role in 2002.

Periods of strong growth

During this time, Moyane has led Primedia Broadcasting through periods of strong growth, including licence renewals, the acquisition of 94.5 Kfm, the migration of Talk Radio 702 from AM to FM and the sales integration process of the music and talk stations.

At a Primedia group advertising level, Moyane also served on the executive committee.

“He was a sounding board for many matters that presented challenges and I have come to really value his great wisdom over the years. He will certainly be missed,” added Pillay.

"I have learnt and grown a lot during the past six years at Primedia. I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity that I was afforded by Primedia and its leaders, who had full confidence in my abilities to lead the biggest assets of the company. I thank each and every staff member and all Primedia directors for their support during my chairmanship. I look forward to the future," Moyane stated.

Moyane will remain at Primedia Broadcasting until the end of April 2008.
