NEWSWATCH: Safa has rejected anything to do with a sponsorship of Bafana Bafana by an adult dating site, reports goal.com. It's claimed bad financial management sank Goldfields newspaper Gold-Net, reports IOL, and TechCentral reports the Internet Service Providers' Association reckons Telkom's transit fee is 'legally illogical'.
IOL: 'Poor fiscal control scuppered Gold-Net'... The Competition Tribunal heard yesterday from Schalk Burger, senior counsel for the defendant, that it wasn't anything Media24 did but rather a lack of proper financial controls, and other reasons, that sank the newspaper. Media24 is currently facing the tribunal over a complaint brought by former Gold-Net owner Hans Steyl.
TechCentral: Telkom transit fee 'legally illogical'... OK, it's 'only' 6c/minute, but Telkom, in the opinion of a great many people, are experts at gouging every last cent out of the consumer - which is just about everyone. So it's no wonder the Internet Service Providers' Association is supporting MWEB's High Court action against Telkom's imposition of the 6c/minute "transit fee" for calls sent from its fixed-line network to its mobile network, reports TechCentral.Excessive costs have cost the consumer millions... probably billions - and they have cost South Africa itself billions...in lost growth, lost opportunities and more.
