Acting president Willie Basson confirmed the meeting would now take place next Tuesday. Basson said that all 11 CSA members have agreed to postpone the AGM to a later date.
Differences of opinions as to the number of new independent directors and a legal battle with former CSA president Norman Arendse appear to be the main reasons behind the unanimous decision to put off the AGM. Earlier this week, The New Age reported that Norman Arendse is challenging the decision to bar him from being appointed independent director and has approached the South African Sports Confederation and Olympics Committee (Sascoc) to resolve the matter.
Sascoc chief executive Tubby Reddy confirmed that they have received a formal complaint from Arendse, who was ruled out recently on the grounds that he had served in cricket administration in the past three years. Nominations Committee chairperson, Shawn Christiansen, resigned in protest over the mater, The New Age said.
