Celebrate spring with the #StellaSessions
Last Friday night I took advantage of one of the first still and warm spring evenings of the season and paid a visit to the Stella Café & Bar at the Southern Sun The Cullinan Hotel in the CBD. Every Friday from 5-7pm Stella offers bottomless bubbly for R140 per person. Corks be popping! Showcasing a variety of local MCCs in the courtyard around the beautiful pool the #StellaSessions are a perfect welcome to the weekend and spring.
Delectable tapas
One needs to line the stomach when flowing bubbles are involved, so luckily Stella offers a range of delectable tapas to keep you steady. We practically sampled all the tapas off the menu and I have to give praise to executive chef Henrico Grobbelaar on an outstanding job. Showcasing a mix of fresh and flavour-packed tapas of Cape Malay and continental style, one can’t really make a wrong choice. That said, I would certainly recommend the moreish confit of pork belly with crispy crackling and fragrant angry duck curry and, if picking off the Cape Flavours section of the tapas menu, the Bo Kaap Bobotie Spring Rolls with lime pickle sauce are utterly delectable.
Now if too much bubbly has been consumed, as is understandable when it’s bottomless, I would recommend a night’s stay at The Cullinan. We did just that and I it was quite a relief to know we only had to take an elevator ride to bed, and such a luxurious one at that.
Personal touch perfection
A stay at The Cullinan really makes you feel pampered, from their opulent en-suite rooms to all those little extra touches; a complimentary bottle of wine and nibbles on arrival and newspaper in the morning, this is a hotel that doesn’t lose that personal touch in its grand size.
