Candidates for the Regional Business Achievers Awards are nominated by their peers and runs concurrently with the Businesswoman of the Year Award, which has been honouring South Africa's most remarkable businesswomen since 1980.
There are four categories: Start-Up, Entrepreneurial, Professional and for 2005, the Awards have been expanded to include Corporate Sector. Criteria include entrepreneurial spirit, marketing flair, innovation, employment creation and the development of employee skills.
The BWA is the largest association of business and professional women in South Africa. Members consist of some of the most senior decision makers in the country, as well as entrepreneurs who have been in business for a short period of time. The BWA encourages businesswomen from all business sectors to become a member of the Association, in order to recognise and promote their skills as businesswomen, as well as to develop their professional and personal networks.
