MA(SA) training programme, AGM

The marketing industry has moved closer to promoting professional standards as the Chartered Marketer SA (CMSA) programme takes off in its new home at the Marketing Association of South Africa [MA(SA)]. The association will hold its AGM on 18 August 2010.

An evaluation programme, hosted by Wits Business School, from 30 July to 01 August 2010 is still open for registration. The presenters are Prof. Russell Abratt, professor of marketing and assistant dean at the Huizenga Business School, Florida, US and Prof. Geoff Bick, who holds the Coca-Cola Africa Chair in Marketing at the Wits Business School.

The programme is open to senior marketers with a recognised degree in marketing plus at least five years experience in marketing (three years at a senior level) or senior marketers, who do not have a degree but have at least ten years experience, five of which are at a senior level.

The Marketing Practitioner (MPSA) assessment process and procedures are being finalised and information is expected to be available in the next few weeks.

The Association's 2010 AGM will be held at the Bryanston Country Club, 63 Bryanston Drive, Johannesburg, on Wednesday 18 August 2010 at 2pm. The formal agenda includes a feedback report by the chairman of the board (Brenda Koornneef) as well as the executive director (Chris de Villiers), the election of directors to vacancies and voting on proposed changes to the articles and constitution. Members must RSVP by 11 August and submit questions in writing by the same date in order for these to be addressed.
