Homegrown Awards 2004

This is your company's chance to be recognized and showcased as a Proudly South African achiever, in 10 prestigious categories. The new Homegrown Awards have been introduced to shine the spotlight on Proudly South African companies who are making a real contribution to the promotion of South African innovation, employment, exports and consumer choice.

The winning companies will receive their unique Homegrown awards at a special presentation in November, to be attended by leaders from the business sector, government, labour and the wider community. The winners will also be profiled in the media, and will receive a commemorative certificate.

Adjudicated by a distinguished panel of Proudly South African leaders from business, government, trade unions and the community.

Categories:

  • Proudly South African Company of the Year
    Awarded to a company that visibly embodies the principles of Proudly South African in its operations and activities, and can demonstrate a commitment to local content, quality, fair labour practice and environmental responsibility in its approach to business.

  • Proudly South African Retailer of the year
    Awarded to a retailer that has made a visible and serious commitment to, and implemented practical and innovative activities aimed at, the promotion of the Proudly South African brand and Proudly South African products in its store(s).

  • Proudly South African Employer of the Year
    Awarded to a company that has undertaken successful initiatives to involve employees in understanding and supporting the Proudly South African campaign, and/or effectively used the Proudly South African brand concept in its internal communication.

  • Proudly South African Bridging the Divide Award
    Awarded to a company that has made a real and meaningful contribution in its own business, geographical area/community or industry sector, to "bridging the divide" that exists with respect to one or more of the following: narrowing the divide between the "first and second" economies in South Africa, i.e. between the formal and informal economies; creating and improving opportunities for women; creating and improving the involvement and participation of workers and employees.

  • Proudly South African Service of the year
    Awarded to a company that has demonstrated a commitment to outstanding service in the delivery of its professional/business/consumer service(s), thus enhancing the reputation of the Proudly South African brand and the level of local customer service.

  • Proudly South African Product of the Year
    Awarded to a company that produces and markets a product that symbolises the Proudly South African campaign in terms of its local content, brand positioning, promotional support, market success/growth and thus acts as an inspiration to other manufacturers.

  • Proudly South African Exporter of the Year
    Awarded to a company that has successfully entered a new export market with a Proudly South African product, or undertaken an export marketing or promotional drive using the Proudly South African brand, or significantly improved export performance of Proudly South African product(s).

  • Proudly South African Innovator of the Year
    Awarded to a company that has developed an innovative product or service that has created a new market category, redefined a category, or that has significantly improved local choice and competitiveness in a product or service category.

  • Proudly South African Marketer of the Year
    Awarded to a company that has developed and implemented an effective and creative marketing, advertising or promotional campaign, using the Proudly South African brand or concept, thus encouraging wider consumer awareness and support.

  • The Proudly South African Employee of the Year
    Awarded to an employee of a Proudly South African company who has made a personal contribution to the success and growth of the company and/or its products and in so doing promoted the Proudly South African campaign in the companies operations and activities.
