Gagasi FM reaches out for Mandela Day
Gagasi FM together with Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom and Love to do Good charity organisation recently took up the challenge to honour former president Nelson Mandela by doing their bit for the 67 minutes Mandela Day campaign by joining forces in the refurbishment of all the grade 8 classrooms at the Sithabile Secondary School in Inanda.
From DJ's to managers and teachers, all parties took time out in planting greenery and painting a number of classrooms.
Sithabile Secondary School principal, Mr. Madonsela, summed up the day by saying, "My heart is filled with extreme gratitude, and I would especially like to thank Gagasi FM's, Zippy Ndokweni for her determination, initiation and spirit in bringing all these companies and personalities together and giving our learners better classrooms". He also added that after 21 years of service, this was the very first time anyone had done anything like this for his school!
After refurbishing the school, Gagasi FM walked across the road to surprise the kids from IGama Elihle Childrens Home with groceries, warm blankets for each child and stationary packs. The Gagasi FM team plan to work closely with Inanda Youth Development and Love to Do Good to help uplift IGama Elihle Childrens Home further.
At the start of the month, the Gagasi FM team decided to dedicate their time to completing a list of 67 deeds so as not to only do their 67 minutes on July 18th, but to also continue with their goodwill deeds throughout the month of July. This campaign has been a very exciting venture for the staff as they have already made a huge dent in the list of 67 with some of the items already being ticked off, including mediating a conflict between people, connecting people who haven't spoken to each other in a long time, helping someone start their business, walking 6hrs 7 minutes to highlight the need to preserve indigenous languages, offering voice over coaching by Vusi Letsoalo and assisting someone to realise their dream of being a singer as well as the important deed of donating blood.
