Donald Paul invests in property
Publisher of The Property Magazine Tony Vaughan says, "Donald has more than 20 years of top-class local and international experience in both the editorial and marketing sides of the media and understands the business side of publishing. As The Property Magazine is growing so rapidly we felt we needed someone with Donald's experience to consolidate its position and take it to the next level."
Paul says, "It's a fantastic opportunity for me to edit a magazine that will not shy from providing informed, articulate and diverse opinions on all matters property. The Property Magazine is fast becoming a must-have magazine because its editorial mix of features, profiles and news provides readers with a visually exciting and intelligent product. Property is sexy because it touches so many levels within us. We intend to make The Property Magazine the prime location for those advertisers who want to reach today's upmarket consumer. That requires good editorial and design."
Paul has run his own magazine in California (San Francisco Review of Books), helped launch and edit magazines for start-up companies (SACitylife magazine) as well as within established corporations. He edited and launched WIN!, a lottery magazine, and, as associate editor, was involved extensively with the launch of Drum East Africa for the Family Magazines division of Media24.
He also formed part of the team that won the tender for a weekly 30-minute television magazine show (Big City) on M-Net, which was a brand extension of the print magazine, SAcitylife. As one of the editorial directors of the show, which won an Avanti award for "best magazine programme", he helped re-package and sell it to etv (as Citylife).
Paul has a BA in English and Philosophy from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, and has worked in both the private commercial sector and with NGOs in the Sudan; and in publishing in England, Greece, the Middle East and the USA.
