Weekly township election survey starts next week

Mzansi Information Services (MIS), a South African township online services company, will be running a weekly online township election poll from next week, it announced yesterday, Thursday, 2 April 2009.

Every week from Tuesday 7 April until Tuesday 21 April, the Mzansi Election Countdown will assess levels of political support for parties participating in the 2009 general election.

Dr Max Mathe, MIS spokesperson, said, "The exercise is aimed at enabling the public to participate in these surveys, view the results on a weekly basis, with the last results announced on 21 April 2009, a day before the election.

"We are extremely excited to provide an interactive platform for South Africans as part of enhancing participatory democracy, the foundation of this wonderful nation," he added.

The survey can be accessed from nine websites owned by MIS: www.mzansi.co.za , www.tembisa.co.za , www.katlehong.co.za , www.thokoza.co.za , www.daveyton.co.za , www.vosloorus.co.za ,www.mamelodi.net, www.soshanguve.net and www.mabopane.net.

Interested participants without computer access can send the name of their political party of choice via SMS to 36882.

MIS is a company founded by Linda Khumalo, author of Telecommunications Made Easy, a book published in 1998. Khumalo is a known ICT expert who has contributed significantly into the telecommunications industry in South Africa and has worked for a number of companies in the ICT sector.
