IPhone 4 launched in South Africa
MTN launched the IPhone 4, the generation next in Smartphones, earlier this week. The device marks the next phase in communication technology and the progressive convergence of function. MTN says its network, significantly upgraded for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, is well positioned to support the increased functionality and bandwidth demands of new generation Smartphones.
Chief marketing officer at MTN South Africa, Serame Taukobong says: "We recognised that the Smartphone revolution was sweeping across South Africa, as it has in other parts of the world, and MTN recognised the opportunity, acquiring the most cutting-edge Smartphone systems technology available. Our network is ready and capable to support the requirements needed to support the increased reliance on network stability, bandwidth, line-speed and efficacy of these devices."
"Convergence of communication technology over the past decade has seen a sharp increase in bandwidth demands on networks. Today, mobile technology is about much more than carrying voice," says Taukobong. "New generation Smartphones such as the IPhone 4 encapsulates true convergence with our upgraded network enabling data, video and voice stably and at speed."
The IPhone 4 will be available at selected MTN stores with national availability across more than 250 stores by mid-October.
