The development on a vacant site at the corner of Ninth Avenue and Main Road will be called the Bloomingdale's office and lifestyle park.
It is being developed by a consortium, including national property group Prosperito and Ray Long, who already owns Bloomingdale's Village, a few metres from the new site.
It will comprise two double-storey buildings of 600m² each on the 1500m² plot. The top floor of one of the buildings has already been acquired by the Rushmere family group for the administrative headquarters of their various businesses.
Announcing the development, Long said he had held the land for about eight years in anticipation of a need for commercial space. Construction will be completed by the end of July.
Rushmere group executive Graham Rushmere said the company had been keenly anticipating relocating its headquarters from Newton Park.
Prosperito managing director Gerhardt Jooste said that the developers' vision was to create an office park interlinking with the nearby lifestyle nursery centre. “It's going to be much more than just an office development - it will be a place where occupants will be able to actually go for a walk in the park,” said Jooste.
